JAKE BELLONZI - TRAINER

Jake prides himself on making fitness accessible to anyone and everyone of all budgets and all athletic levels. He has worked with several professional and semi-professional athletes and currently facilitates the exercise protocols at the Austin Wellness Clinic, a physician-guided medical weight loss program. Studying innumerable exercise research journals and attending countless professional seminars, Jake is constantly searching for the most current and effective methods for his clients. By restoring balance and symmetry to the body, increasing flexibility, programming the correct movement patterns, and adding just the right amount of stress and recovery on his clients' bodies, he creates the perfect recipe for each client's fitness success.

Allan is the Director and Founder of Smart Sport International (SSI) and the Smart Life Institute. CHIKA CHRISTENSON - TRAINER

Chika has been a Certified Personal Trainer since 1996. She has trained varied populations from teens to the elderly. She has also earned her Master's degree in Human Movement. She started Results Personal Training that specializes in functional training and enhancing clients’ lives by using corrective techniques to correct posture, prevent and recover from injury, reduce joint pain, and enhance sports performance. Other training specialties include weight management, sports specific training, and core & balance training.

Shiná is a goal-focused, personal trainer with credentials from The National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Shiná has the proven ablility to offer inspirational, comprehensive, individualized exercise programs for a wide range of clientele. She provides motivation, guidance, safety, and accountability through programs designed to facilitate permanent, life-changing results. She educates clients about food fads and myths; habits and beliefs, food for energy, and the importance of hydration.

Michelle is a NASM certified fitness specialist and Certified Pilates Instructor who enjoys working with anyone seeking to incorporate fitness into their lifestyle.  She uses adaptive Pilates techniques to help tone and condition muscles, as well as focusing on core development.  Michelle has experience working with weight loss clients who are trying to start out on a new road in life. She also specializes in women’s fitness for those trying to achieve a fully toned body.  She is very passionate to help people improve their health by realizing the importance of the active lifestyle.  She finds motivating those who are ready to see a change an exciting part of training.

Marc has over 27 years of experience in strength training that began for him while working at Austin's Texas Athletic Club in 1979. In 1986, TAC closed and Marc moved on to Mike Graham's newly opened Hyde Park Gym, where he honed his training techniques and built gym equipment for 20 years. Included in the mix is over 10 years of massage therapy / injury management and it is this unique combination along with a genuine care for his clients and gym members that earned him Austin Chronicle's Best Trainer with Hearts and Smarts in 2004.

Gray works as a weight-loss and strength training coach for males, females, and youths. Gray is also an adaptive fitness trainer for spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, stroke and brain trauma clients with Roll2Walk.org. Gray's approach to training begins with education. When a client understands the reasons and answers what is effective for THEIR body, self-motivation becomes a personal accomplishment and real changes begin to take place.

Ben has been practicing personal training for the past 5 years. A former professional athlete, Ben has trained all over the world, with pro-surfers on Oahu's North Shore, to AVP volleyball pros, Olympic track and field athletes, European professionals, Muay Thai and Jujitsu masters, along with many of Austin's promising youth athletes. While Ben specializes in sports-specific training for aspiring, professional and former athletes, his integrative holistic approach to wellness involving diet, learning and lifestyle choices, ultimately results in the client's independence from the personal trainer for both the athlete and the busy professional looking for improvements in overall fitness, energy level, and well-being.

JYL KUTSCHE - YOGA INSTRUCTOR

By linking poses together in short sequences, Jyl’s classes combine flow & stillness, with a strong emphasis on detail and technique. Jyl draws from her training in Prajna, Iyengar, Anusara, Yin & Ashtanga Yoga, in hopes of encouraging students to remain curious, awake and self-aware in their practice, and to look at their body as an instrument that they can use to tap into their own vast reservoirs of strength, joy & intuition. She has been practicing yoga for over 15 years, and received her RYT certification from Tias Little (Prajna Yoga), who remains her primary teacher. In order to expand her teaching skills, Jyl spent the majority of 2009 in NYC, where she also completed the Social Action Teacher Training (SATT) program with Jill Satterfield, and taught yoga in various studios around the city, as well as in the NYC public schools through the organization, Bent On Learning. She is ecstatic to be back in Austin, and honored for the opportunity to teach at the South Congress Athletic Club!

KATIE PHILLIPS - TRAINER

Katie believes that exercise should be fun and appropriately challenging for all levels and ages. She brings an east-west combination to her training system, integrating yoga movements with weights and using yoga therapy to prevent and correct dysfunctions. As a Certified Natural Trainer, she can be a minimalist when it comes to equipment, believing body weight to be our most effective tool. She is also an Egoscue PAS I posture alignment specialist and is able to address and correct posture related joint pain that prevents people from doing the activities they enjoy. Katie’s goal is for her clients to leave each session feeling better than when they arrived.

KARI PUTNAM - TRAINER

Kari holds training certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and American Academy of Health, Fitness, and Rehab Professionals (AAHFRP).  Kari’s education has taught her the importance of creating workouts that incorporate core, stability, functional, balance, cardiovascular, and strength training.  She helps her clients build strong and functionally mobile physiques.

JOHN ROGALA - TRAINER

John is an ACE certified personal trainer, weight management specialist and senior citizen fitness specialist. He has a BS in Nutrition from the University of Texas and is a former medical school student and Division I college football player. He has been involved in the fitness field for over 35 years, with his first job being a trainer/instructor at a gym since the age of 15. He hasn't stopped exercising ever since. His current passions are cycling and running.
